Disclaimer

Please read this notice before following any guide on this site. It covers our relationship to the software, the risks inherent in changing fan behavior, and the limits of what written guidance can promise.

Independent resource

GetFanControl.org is not the official website of the Fan Control project and is not operated by its developer. The application, its source components and all official releases are published by Rémi Mercier (Rem0o) on GitHub. Every download link on this site points to those official releases without modification. Opinions and recommendations in our guides are our own.

Hardware and safety notice

Changing fan speeds changes component temperatures. Modern processors and graphics cards protect themselves by throttling, but running hardware hotter than intended for extended periods can reduce its lifespan, and stopping a fan that a component depends on can cause instability. Apply conservative settings, monitor temperatures after every change, and keep a safe firmware fan profile in the BIOS as a fallback. Laptop fan control in particular is not guaranteed to be available or safe on any given model.

Accuracy of information

Guides are written against the current release of Fan Control and tested where possible, but driver behavior, firmware limits and supported hardware change over time. Specific numbers such as minimum GPU fan percentages or fan-stop temperatures are typical values, not guarantees for your card. When our text and the official documentation or GitHub release notes disagree, trust the official source and let us know through the contact page.
